Warhammer Open Beta

Post by Goraillion on Tue Aug 26, 2008 3:27 pm

If anyone's gonna be in said game for the Open Beta, I'll be there as Goraillion, the High Elf Swordmaster. Let me know and we can pick a server on the 7th.

I will be giving the open beta a try also...although I don't know which career yet...I tried a little bit of the rune priest and shadow warrior...I liked the rune priest best...
Let me know which server...

And Eldarak...you're too funny!!! Smile

I played quite a few different careers and I think I am going with the Witch Hunter. Stabbing someone with a sword then shooting them with a pistol made me giggle. Twice.

I don't know which server, but Mad Dog Pass or Mad Dog River or whatever it was caught my eye.

Nothing like an ugly one-eyed elf swinging a huge sword like it was made of paper to think of irony and have fun at the same time. Swordmaster FTW.

OMG a Cage sighting!

To be honest I'd love to try WaR, but I really dislike the whole Warhammer setting, but love the ol' RvR from DAoC.

Hows about we chose an order server and a destruction server. They won`t let you have both on one server. Mad Dog for Order, mount gunbad for destruction.

Gor,

Are they keeping the same servers for head start and launch...???
I was checking out the populations on the servers and it looks like Tyrion is a popular one for both Order and Destruction...both listed as Full...
I also like the name Crag Mere...

Serenity....

Another consideration is, which servers are open RvR...
I enjoyed the RvR scenarios but am not sure I would want an open free-for-all RvR environment....

They haven`t said yet. All I saw was the RVR areas, but that`s still just the first map.

I created my toons on Mad Dog Pass, just as I said I would.

Cage - Witch Hunter - lvl9 PvE and lvl8 PvP right now.
Kage - Bright Mage - Haven't even logged in.

No destruction. The Destruction population is huge. It is my goal to kill them all.

I went 41 - 1 in my last RvR challenge. Nothing like shooting a dark tank in the face with my pistol and five pumps of absolution Smile

I downloaded this the other day and gave it a whirl - it is quite fun. The freshness is there, something I didn't get with AoC beta.

Ah, Mad Dog Pass...cool name...it wasn't available though a few days ago...which is odd because it sounds like it has been around a while based on your all's comments...

Oh well...it's there now!!!
Character is a Dwarf Engineer...Zorr....

So, Bright Wizards rock. Its like a walking nuke. Only downside is self-collateral damage, which gets very annoying after a while.

I have a Witch Hunter on Mad Dog Pass called Phigh.

The open beta ends on Saturday - Sunday is the pre-order headstart for collectors editions and Tuesday is the headstart for the rest of the pre-order crowd.

Anyone down none-instanced pvp yet. Was doing it last night, and we were owning destruction. So much fun building up combustion, then unleashing x2 crits(600 dmg aprox) on unsuspecting casters.

Re: Warhammer Open Beta

Post by Eadwyn on Thu Sep 11, 2008 11:33 am

Hey all. Whilst recovering from an awesome wedding weekend (my brother-in-law) I came down with a nasty sinus infection. Since I was stuck at home, and had the beta download from Kage, I picked up the pre-order and tried it out.

I agree with Phigh, the feel of it is very much like a previous mythic MMO, Dark Ages of Camelot. I haven't got as far as RvR yet, but I expect it will be similar, if not more polished. The feel of the PvE stuff is very WoW-like to me, only with less grind. Of course, I haven't got that far in, so grind may be yet to come. I'm looking forward to their raid and RvR gameplay to spice things up.

My main concern about this MMO - aside from time to play, as usual Smile - is that I'm not at all into the lore of the game. I didn't really play Warhammer much; it was the gaming night I would skip when my other friends would play it. Hopefully, the ability to shoot someone in the face will address any storyline misgivings.

I created 2 characters, but only got to play with one because the server crashed. Both on the Mad Dog Pass server.

Invicta, level 4 (almost 5) Witch Hunter
Bero, newly created Dwarven Engineer

This is probably pointless though, considering these all get wiped next week for Early Bird launch.

Open Beta ends on Saturday - I wonder if there will be an End of Beta event, I really enjoyed the one in TR.

Intend of giving Warhammer a try, but I will also be playing LotRO - Warhammer will probably fall to the wayside for a while when Moria comes out.
